HYPEROPIA / HYPERMETROPIA

Hyperopia (hypermetropia) is the medical term for longsightedness. Younger people with hyperopia generally can see clearly in the distance, however as they become older distance vision can become blurred. Symptoms include headaches, eyestrain and blurred vision.

MYOPIA

Myopia is the medical term for shortsightedness. People with myopia see objects more clearly when they are close to the eye, whilst distant objects appear blurred and fuzzy. Symptoms include blurred distance vision and eye fatigue.

PRESBYOPIA

Presbyopia means ‘old eyes’ and is a condition which involves the loss of the eyes’ ability to focus on near objects. Presbyopia is part of the eyes’ normal ageing process and usually becomes noticeable between the ages of 40-45 and continues for some 10-20 years until it stabilises. Symptoms include headaches, eyestrain when doing close work, blurred vision and eye fatigue.
